Samir Gupta, MD, MSCS, AGAF
Dr. Gupta is a Professor of Medicine at the University of California San Diego, and Staff Physician within the Section of Gastroenterology at the Department of Veterans Affairs San Diego Health Care System. His research focuses on the screening and prevention of colorectal cancer. This work has included multiple randomized trials of strategies to boost colorectal cancer screening participation in underserved communities, as well as large scale epidemiologic studies of strategies to prevent cancer after baseline colonoscopy with polypectomy. Funded by the National Cancer Institute and others. He serves as Chair  of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network’s annually issued Genetic/Familial High-Risk Assessment: Colorectal guidelines, and previously served as a member of the US Mult-society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer, leading their 2020 recommendations for follow up after colonoscopy and polypectomy.
