Admissions Requirements & Documentation

All qualified and eligible students are encouraged to apply. The PMTO MAS Program does not consider race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, and/or other protected categories as part of the application and selection process.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s Degree (STEM/Science) from an accredited institution with training comparable to the University of California and some relevant work experience preferred
• Minimum GPA: 3.0 from graduate, undergraduate, or post-baccalaureate studies

Required Documents for Admissions Review

• Online Application for graduate admission
• Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• Statement of Purpose – Explain why this program interests you, how it aligns with your career goals, and how you plan to leverage your degree
• Three letters of recommendation including at least one provided by a direct supervisor from a current, relevant employer
• TOEFL,  IELTS or Duolingo English Test (DET) Scores (for international applicants only) – TOEFL minimum: 85, IELTS minimum: 7.0, DET minimum: 120
• Interview – You may be invited for an interview via Zoom or in person
• No GRE/GMAT Required

Admissions Deposit

A $1,000 non-refundable deposit is required upon accepting admission. This amount will be applied to the first Fall quarter’s tuition.

Application Checklist

• Statement of Purpose (see details above)
• Three Letters of Recommendation (one from direct supervisor and/or relevant employer) – Enter recommender names and emails in the application. You may submit your application before all letters are received.
• Unofficial Academic Records – Upload transcripts from all post-secondary institutions. Official transcripts are required if admitted.
• Resume or CV
• Interview (if invited via Zoom or in person)

For International Applicants

• TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo (DET) Scores – Must be submitted using UCSD institution code 4836. Tests must be taken within the last two years, and applications will not be reviewed until scores are received. UC San Diego accepts TOEFL iBT Home Edition and IELTS Indicator test scores.
• Foreign Degrees & Transcripts – If admitted, a WES or TEC course-by-course evaluation is required. Only WES and TEC (formerly SpanTran) evaluations are accepted by UC San Diego.
